Up for auction is a new never used or installed birch stock set for the finnish mosin nagant bolt action rifel the m-39 or 1939 mosin nagant was among the last of the mosin nagants that were developed and they were imo one of the best made. The rifles and parts were usually made by sako & valmet & tikka and were of the highest quality if they did not meet the inspectors high standard they were rejected rebuilt or used for parts for other rifles. Of the rack most m-39s will group under 1.5 inches @ 100 meters with proper ammunition. This stock set is my last one i was saving it in case i ever came across a butchered or sporterized m-39 needing restoration it was the best stock of the bunch i went through many years ago and you would have to look a long time to find one as nice.
It does not have the oil stained finish as it was never used or issued on a rifle it sat in a finnish warehouse for decades until being sold as surplus years ago. Numrich arms gpc sarco samco and other sources do nto carry these stocks they have on occasion the metal pieces but stocks are as rare as hens teeth.
If you have a beat or hammered finn rifle ro one that a drunk monkey attacked with sanders and saws you may be able to put this to good use to restore that classic rifle to its original condition and in so doing add value to a rifle that only continues to appreciate in value, there were never many of any of the finnish mosin nagant rifles of any model made at least not in the same numbers as the 1891 91/30 m-1938 & 1944 91/59 and type 53s were made in the millions unlike the finnish models which numbered in the tens or in the case of the m-39 hundred thousand range. Not many were produced and what is left is for the most part here in the us and the hands of collectors worldwide they won't make these parts ever again. Many m-39 were recently in the last 20 years imported sadly allot of them have been altered or modified from original condition it reminds me of the swedish & german mauser and us 1903a1 & 1903a3 springfield rifles that also used to be inexpensive and found everywhere they too dried up or were butchered only to see surviving original examples climb in price, for a good comparison of what was and now is regarding these older classics look what a swedish 1894 used to sell for decades ago now today try to find an original stock and see what it sells for let along an all original example.
